Security FAQs

Is esenda safe?

Yes. esenda is a secure payments platform used by schools across the UK and internationally. It’s built for schools and is Cyber Essentials certified, every school is verified before it can take payments, and your payment and personal details are protected throughout.

Why has my bank flagged my esenda payment?

Some banks run extra checks when you pay a company for the first time. It’s a normal security measure to protect you. Tell your bank it’s a payment for school fees to a registered business, and ask them to run a Confirmation of Payee check.

What should I do if my bank blocks or delays a payment?

You may need to confirm the payment in your banking app or by contacting your bank. After that, payments to your school through esenda usually go through smoothly.

Will this happen every time I pay school fees?

No. These checks usually only happen the first time you pay through esenda, or if your payment pattern changes. Once your bank recognises esenda as a trusted payee, future payments are quicker.

Why did one payment go through but another was delayed?

If you’re paying for more than one child, your bank may approve one payment and take a little longer checking the others. Once the check is complete, your payments go through safely.

Tip: if it’s your first time paying through esenda, don’t worry if your bank flags the payment. It’s just a security check to keep your money safe.

How are my card details protected?

Your card details are encrypted and handled securely, with fraud screening as standard. Your bank may also ask you to confirm a payment, for example in your banking app, as an extra layer of protection.

Does esenda see my banking login when I use Pay by Bank?

No. You approve the payment yourself inside your own banking app, using your bank’s usual security. esenda never sees your login details.

How can I tell a payment request is genuine?

Your school will tell you it uses esenda, often on its website. Payment requests come with a payment link, so you shouldn’t need to type in bank details from an email. If you’re ever unsure, contact your school directly using contact details you already have, not ones in the email.

What should I do if I think I’ve received a fake payment request?

Don’t pay it. Contact your school using contact details you already have, and forward the email to [email protected] so we can look into it.

How is my personal information used?

Your details are used to process your payment and send your confirmation, and are handled in line with esenda’s privacy policy.
